Vice Chancellor, JU visits Kishtwar Campus
Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice -Chancellor Jammu University visited Kishtwar Campus today. He was received warmly by Director Kishtwar Campus and teaching and non-teaching staff of Kishtwar Campus. Prof. Sharma interacted with the students and faculty members of the campus. The interaction session started with welcome address by Prof. H. N. Sheikh, Director of the Campus. Prof. Sheikh highlighted the achievements of the campus and challenges being faced by the campus in view of absence of permanent / regular teaching faculty. The faculty members requested Vice –Chancellor to increase their consolidated salary in view of enhancement announced by the Higher Education Department, J & K Govt. for contractual Teaching staff in Colleges. Vice Chancellor agreed in principle and assured teachers that university will issue necessary order in this regard in near future. During the interaction Vice Chancellor advised students to work hard and make optimum use of the facilities developed by the university in the campus. He called upon students to concentrate on their studies and make self-study a habit. Prof. R. D. Sharma appreciated that courses being run at Kishtwar Campus are highly technical and job oriented and there is need to motivate and attract students of Kishtwar and adjoining areas towards these courses. He promised all possible help to make Kishtwar Campus more vibrant by introducing more courses in future. The interaction ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr, Shabir Ahmad from Department of Kashmiri.
